Da Nang imposes 7.5 million VND fine on COVID-19 testing evader

The Hai Chau District People's Committee in Da Nang, on Thursday, imposed 7.5 million VND in fines on a 34-year-old immigrant man for having skipped COVID-19 testing as required, whilst his employer also faced administration penalties for violating coronavirus prevention measures in accordance with Vietnamese aws.

The offender is a native of the northern province of Hai Duong, which is Viet Nam's current coronavirus hotbed. He now works as the Deputy Head of Construction Management Board, which belongs to the 319 Corporation under the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence which is currently based at 63 Le Van Luong Street, Trung Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District, Ha Noi.

The man came back to Da Nang for work on 16 February after having stayed in his hometown for Tet breaks. 

On 20 February, the man came to the Hoan My Da Nang Hospital, displaying such symptoms as cough and fever. However, he intentionally skipped SARS-CoV-2 testing as required by the hospital’s staff, and then escaped from hospital.

It was also reported that, on his way back to Da Nang from Hai Duong, the man did not make any compulsory medical declarations.

For the time being, the man is undergoing compulsory quarantine of 14 days at a Lien Chieu District - based dormitory.

The man tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 for the first time on 21 February, and he will be subjective to other tests as prescribed in the coming days.
