Despite unfavourable weather conditions in 2020, hi-tech vegetable and fruit production models were still carried out across Da Nang.

In addition, many vegetable growing areas in such Hoa Vang District’s communes as Hoa Phong, Hoa Tien and Hoa Khuong poured their money into the application of scientific and technical advances in the production of organic agricultural products which meet the Viet Nam Agriculture Practice (VietGAP) food safety standards, hereby raking in large profits.

The 15.3 ha Phu Son Nam vegetable growing area in Hoa Khuong Commune is a typical example.

This vegetable growing area, last year, focused on planting 10 types of leafy green vegetables and 10 types of fruit and vegetables in order to supply for some organic food stores, and individuals who sell organic products online, across Da Nang.

Mr Nguyen Lam Hung, a technician from the Phu Son Nam vegetable growing area, said, in the coming time, his farm would pour money into the building of more greenhouses in a bid to protect crops from bad weather condition, and the installation of automatic irrigation, ventilation, drainage, power supply and seed storage systems, thereby significantly contributing to increasing productivity.

Last year, the Tuy Loan Organic Vegetables Consumption and Production Service Cooperative in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Phong Commune had its vegetable growing area increased to 8 ha from 6 ha.

The Cooperative provides a daily average of up to one tonne of vegetables and fruits of all types to markets. It also ensures a stable supply of vegetables to hundreds of Vinmart+ convenience stores across Da Nang.

Mr Bui Dung, Director of the Cooperative, revealed that the Cooperative would promote the growing of greenhouse and hydroponic vegetables this year in a bid to better serve Da Nang people.

In the time ahead, Hoa Vang District will prioritise effectively implementing projects on setting up organic vegetable growing areas using hydroponic growing methods, as well as promoting the utilisation of advanced cultivation techniques to produce a variety of robust, disease-free and high-yielding products.
