Fifty Da Nang medical workers honoured

A combined total of 50 doctors, nurses, and medical staffers from Da Nang-based public medical facilities, on Friday morning, were honoured in recognition for their commitment and dedication to the healthcare sector in 2020- a tough year witnessing the city face COVID-19 resurgence.

The honouring ceremony took place amid the whole country celebrating the 66th anniversary of the Vietnamese Physicians’ Day (27 February).

Present at the event were Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman Le Minh Trung, and representatives from relevant local agencies.

Of the 50 honourees, 20 people were presented with the municipal-level ‘Shining White Coats 2020’ awards, 28 others were bestowed with the title of ‘Meritorious Physicians’ from the Vietnamese President, and the remaining two received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister in recognition of their dedication to Da Nang healthcare sector.

On behalf of Da Nang leaders, Chairman Chinh lauded remarkable achievements gained by the Da Nang healthcare sector over the past turbulent year when Da Nang braced for two unexpected coronavirus waves.

Thanks to the high level of consensus between leaders of the healthcare sector and medical workers, Da Nang successfully contained the deadly virus in 2020.

The municipal administration chief also hoped the healthcare sector would continue its efforts to uphold their achievements, and enhance their knowledge and morality in order to fulfill their assigned tasks.

In her remarks at the event, doctor Ngo Thi Kim Yen, Director of the municipal Department of Health affirmed the local healthcare sector’s stance for this year in keeping coronavirus out of Da Nang amid the current complicated pandemic, in tandem with ceaselessly enhancing the quality of medical examination and treatment to serve the growing needs of the general public.
