The Bai Ngang fishing wharf located in Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District saw the bustling trading ambience created by a large number of many fishermen and seafood traders. This is seen as a positive sign of the successful Year of the Buffalo for Da Nang fishing industry.

Previously, on the evening of Friday, the first day of the Lunar New Year, some fishermen conducted ritual worshiping ceremonies onboard their fishing boats to pray for prosperous lunar new year with bumper seafood catches, and then start their first inshore fishing trips at 3.00am - 4.00am

Many fishing vessels brought back hundreds of kilos of tiny shrimps after their night-time inshore fishing trips.

A fisherman named Hong from Man Thai Ward, Son Tra District, netted 8kg of fresh shrimp which was sold at 25,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, other fishermen who practise near-shore fishing also caught a lot of fish and squid during the Tet break.

As for deep sea fishing vessels, fishermen are busying loading supplies of fuel, ice, food, and other necessities onto their vessels for their first post-Tet trips to Viet Nam’s territorial waters which are scheduled to start in the coming days in the current context of favourable weather conditions at sea with cheerful spirits in the hope of making another profitable catches.

They together hope that Da Nang fishermen would have a year of successful trips in order to help them earn a living and protect Viet Nam’s sacred sovereignty over its sea and islands.
