Saltwater intrusion occurs in Red Bridge River again
Since 15 February, severe salinity has intruded into the Cam Le District-based Cau Do (Red Bridge) Water Supply Plant's raw water intake gates in Da Nang.
At 2pm on Wednesday, the highest salinity level recorded at these gates was 508 mg/l, around 208 mg/l higher than the allowed limits.
Currently, the Da Nang Water Supply Company (DAWACO) is keeping a close eye on the situation. Also, the An Trach Anti-Salinity Pumping Station is now operating at full capacity to provide water for the city’s Red Bridge Water Supply Plant to ensure the delivery of adequate tap water for homes and businesess across the city.
According to a DAWACO representative, the upgrade of the An Trach Anti-Salinity Pumping Station has been completed before Tet. Hence, the daily capacity of sourcing water from the An Trach Dam located on Yen River has risen by 245,000-250,000m3 for the Cau Do Water Supply Plant, and the supply provides a sufficient amount of water for domestic purposes at all times.
