Previously, staff from the River and Sea Environment Enterprise under the Urban Environment Joint Stock Company were tasked themselves with cleaning up whatever left a Tet flower market in the 29 March Square on 2 September Street  on Lunar New Year’s Eve.

Meanwhile, a large amount of waste, including branches, firewood, and used plastic items piled up on some sections of Da Nang beaches. Sanitation workers, therefore, in a prompt fashion, went out to clear trash left there to ensure the landscape and environmental sanitation, thus serving locals and tourists during Tet.

“A lot of the trash gets stuck in the dunes. Trash from here, there and everywhere has been churned up, making its way to shore. That’s why clean up crews are working very hard to remove hundreds of km of waste”, said a worker.

Likewise, 30% of the company's workers and special vehicles got involved in maintaining street sanitation, mainly collecting garbage left on streets and at entertainment spots, and outside restaurants and cafes in the inner city.

By Saturday afternoon, more than 100 tonnes of waste had been collected and transported to Lien Chieu District- transported Khanh Son landfill for treatment.

By Monday, the fourth day of the Year of the Buffalo, 100% of the company’s manpower and vehicles will have tasked themselves with environmental sanitation work across the city.

In recent days leading up to Lunar New Year 2021, especially from 4 - 11 February, sanitation workers worked three to five times harder than normal in an effort to make sure all streets are completely clean on Lunar New Year’s Eve and the first day of the Lunar New Year.
