Da Nang field hospital for COVID-19 patients to be taken down
Following recent approval by Da Nang government, Da Nang HealthCare will take down its unused 1,000-bed field hospital which was set up at the Tien Son sports arena for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in wake of Viet Nam’s effective coronavirus containment over recent times. The move aims to make room for cultural and sports events which are slated to take place there during the rest of this year.

The field hospital will be deconstructed by relevant local agencies and the Sun Group, the sponsor for the Tien Son field hospital.
As per request of the municipal administration, heed should be paid to ensuring managing and preserving carefully the disassembled equipment and assets at the warehouses of the Tien Son sports arena so that they can be available for re-assembly if needed.
This 1,000-bed field hospital was set up with a rush in early August 2020 in an effort to respond to potential overwhelming capacity at the Hoa Vang Field Hospital and the Lung Hospital, both of which treated COVID-19 patients in the city as Da Nang was bracing for a second wave of the pandemic outbreak and the city became coronavirus epicenter in Viet Nam at that time.
Encouragingly, the Tien Son field hospital has so far treated no COVID-19 patients since its debut as community transmissions slowed down in the city thanks to its effective prevention measures at that time.
Following clearing the filed hospital, the Tien Son sports arena is scheduled to host the National Pencak Silat Championship 2021 from 20 to 30 March.
Meanwhile, the Da Nang Table Tennis Tournament 2021 will take place at the Phan Chau Trinh Sports Club on 13 and 14 March.
