Police officers are working three shifts a day in order to reach a daily handling capacity of 350 dossiers for the issuance of chip-based ID cards.
Major Vo Van Dung, Head of the Man Thai Police in Son Tra District said that his team members are working seven days a week with three shifts per day, namely 6:00am - 11:30am, 11:30am - 5:30pm, 5:30pm - 11:30pm, to process the massive amount of paperwork and application for the chip-based ID cards.
Many applicants showed their satisfaction on the issuance of e-ID cards which was conducted in a simple yet prompt fashion. All they need to do was to show their existing ID cards, re-check their personal information, have their fingerprints taken.
“It only took about 3 minutes for me to complete all compulsory procedures for my application for the chip-based ID card. The staffers were very enthusiastic and polite”, said male resident Tran Nguyen Anh Minh from Thac Gian Ward.
Chip-based ID cards only differ from previous versions in the addition of an electronic chip, while other information, including the ID number, will remain unchanged. The smart card, which is designed to be encrypted, will store facial recognition features, fingerprints, and anthropometry. The chips can store 20 personal data fields and have a high security level so they cannot be falsified easily.
