Police in Thanh Khe District, Da Nang, are investigating the cause of a hearse fire whilst travelling on Dien Bien Phu Street.

The hearse was totally destroyed by the fire

It was reported that a funeral home van without a body inside with a registration plate of 43B-017.12 spontaneously caught fire at 10.00am on Wednesday morning when it was en route from Hai Chau to Lien Chieu districts.

The witnesses said that the white van completely engulfed in flames with thick black smoke billowing out. Luckily, the driver escaped from the burning vehicle before the flames reached him.

More than 10 fire crews along with 2 fire engines, from the Da Nang Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department, rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the fire.

Thanks to the great efforts of the firefighters, the blaze was completely extinguished. However, the vehicle was totally destroyed, but the driver was unharmed.

The police said the cause of this “inexplicable incident” is unknown and maybe “beyond human control”. The investigation into the cause is underway.
