Two escaped the fire at a house in Thanh Khe District, Da Nang, on Monday night, and an investigation into the cause is underway.

The fire broke out at 9.15pm on the 2^nd floor of a house located at alley No 52 on Huynh Ngoc Hue Street in Thanh Khe District’s Hoa Khe Ward.

The neighbours said that a large volume of black smoke was billowing from the burning floor, and the high winds helped spread the fire quickly through the house and to the next house.

At that time, a woman and her son were asleep in the house but they managed to run out of the burning house to safety.

The neighbours managed to stamp out the fire but they were unsuccessful, so they then rang firefighters for help.

Fire crews along with 5 fire engines, from the Da Nang Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the fire.

Thanks to the great efforts of the firefighters, the blaze was basically extinguished at 11.15pm. However, the 2^nd storey was completely destroyed.
