Da Nang earmarks 118 sites for waste sorting at source
Following recent instructions by the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, the municipal Land Fund Development Centre will earmark 118 land plots of 60 - 103m2 across the city for waste sorting at the source, thus prompting trash reducing, recycling, reusing activities.

Meanwhile, the Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company will collect hazardous waste that contains properties that make them dangerous or potentially harmful to human health or the environment.
Last year, the volume of recyclable waste collected and recycled in the city reached 200 tonnes, in which the highest amount was in downtown Hai Chau District with 121 tonnes.
For this year’s targets, the city eyes to see more than 90% of the city’s total enterprises, tourism and service establishments, markets, supermarkets, commercial centres, and schools implement waste sorting at the source, and ensure that the rate of reused and recycled trash will reach more than 12%.
Over recent times, the public has been actively engaged in the sorting of trash at the source, and then sell recyclable items to raise fund for helping needy people, instead of throwing them into dustbins for final disposal at the Khanh Son landfill as previously.
Locals have the tendency to consume biodegradable products, and promoting the classification of trash right at their families into 3 types - organic, inorganic, and recycled. Such an active move has significantly contributed to protecting natural resources and the environment, ensuring social welfare and driving the circular economy.
