Deputy Minister of Heath applaudes Da Nang for successful management of COVID-19 outbreak
During his inspection visit to Da Nang –based Lung Hospital, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Heath Nguyen Truong Son applauded the municipal government and health workers for successful controlling COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Son remarked that Da Nang has made enormous efforts to put the pandemic under control and the city has successfully fought and contained the deadly coronavirus.
He said “Da Nang learned important lessons during the coronavirus crisis that help the city-based medical facilities provide better care for their patients. Staff at such medical facilities as Hoa Vang General Hospital and Lung Hospital responded quickly to care for the first cases of the city and went on to expertly treat hospitalised COVID-19 patients and seriously unwell patients with COVID-19. Da Nang has valuable lessons for Viet Nam in how to fight COVID-19”
Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam said Da Nang’s success in its battles against the coronavirus pandemic comes from the city’s rapid response to COVID-19 when the second coronavirus wave hit the city in July, 2020.
Mr Nam remarked that Da Nang is increasing vigilance against Covid-19 in more proactive manner with focus on ensuring good practice of COVID-19 prevention and control regulations released by national and municipal governments.
Da Nang Department of Health Deputy Director Tran Thanh Thuy said that local functional bodies are constantly promoting the public practice of the Health Ministry-mandated 5K (in Vietnamese) motto: namely ‘Khau trang’ (Face mask) – ‘Khu khuan’ (Disinfection) – ‘Khoang cach’ ‘Distance’ - ‘Khong tu tap’ (No gatherings) – ‘Khai bao y te’ (Health Declaration) in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus.
For the time being, Da Nang is still on the right track in following the drastic motto of contact tracing - isolating- testing in a bid to keep coronavirus out of the city, Mrs Thuy remarked.
In addition, Da Nang has already oulined its COVID-19 preparedness and response plan, as well as established a framework to prepare for and manage the city’s response to the pandemic.
Three organisations and ten individuals in Da Nang received certificates of merit from the Ministry of Health in recognition of their remarkable achievements in COVID-19 prevention and control.
