Hydroelectric plants urged to continue water discharge to tackle water shortage facing Da Nang
The neighbouring Quang Nam Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has asked the province-based hydropower plants of A Vuong and Song Bung 4, from now to April 15, to discharge water with the largest flow possible at the same time and a continuous daily duration of 12 hours.

The move aims to ensure irrigations for the production of agricultural crops, and support fresh water sources for the Da Nang-based Cau Do (Red Bridge) Water Plant amid the high salinity level measured at its raw water intake gates over recent days.
At 10:00am on Friday, the highest salinity level recorded at the Cau Do water plant reached 9.328mg/l many times higher than the allowed limits, the highest since from early this year, which adversely affected tap water supplies for Da Nang.
It was previously reported that, due to severe salinity and a very low water level of Yen River, many parts of the city experienced weak tap water pressure and flow, which stirred up public complaints.
It is known that the highest salinity level of tap water must be under 250mg/l, the safe salinity level for the mainland stipulated in the national technical regulations issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health regarding drinking water quality.
