Ensuring best practice of the Health Ministry-mandated 5K motto and preventive measures

Our observations indicate that tourist sites, accommodation establishments, travel agencies across Da Nang are giving top priority to ensuring best practice of the Health Ministry-mandated 5K (in Vietnamese) motto: namely ‘Khau trang’ (Face mask) – ‘Khu khuan’ (Disinfection) – ‘Khoang cach’ ‘Distance’ - ‘Khong tu tap’ (No gatherings) – ‘Khai bao y te’ (Health Declaration) in a bid to prevent the possible spread of the disease. Visitors are seen wearing face coverings when visiting local tourist sites. In addition, hand sanitizer bottles are placed at areas where visitors will upstair or downstair in these venues, and support is also available during opening hours.

Deputy Manager of the Marble Mountains Tourist Site Le Ngoc Nhat said “Our top priority is to strictly adopt COVID-19 prevention measures in the tourist site with a focus on putting in place drastic measures in receiving and serving visitors. All our staff members are required to wear face masks at work, and regularly clean and disinfect elevator handrails and furniture ”.

Similarly, Mr. Tran Van Chuan from the Museum of Da Nang remarked “ Apart from requiring visitors to wear face coverings, disinfect their hands, and declare their medical conditions before entering the museum, we also make arrangements to ensure safe distance between visiting delegations in an effort to protect them from getting COVID-19.

Not only tourist sites in Da Nang have been in active to implement measures to prevent and control the pandemic, but also tourists raise their awareness of protecting their health.

Mrs. Ong Thi Dieu, a resident of the southern province of Long An said: “During my trip to Da Nang, I see the local government strictly putting in place COVID-19 prevention measures across the city. We were advised to take preventive measures to protect ourselves from coronavirus during our stay in Da Nang after arriving at the city’s airport”.

Currently, A La Carte Hotel located on Vo Nguyen Giap Street in Son Tra district welcomes about 200 guests on average per day. Guests are required to wear face covers and make medical delaration when making their hotel check-in procedures.

Mr. Tran Minh Coi, Culinary Director at A La Carte Hotel, said that, in addition to introducing preventive measures, hotel staff who regularly contact with guests such as receptionists, service staff are required to wear a face mask to protect the safety of themselves and their guests.

According to our observations, many serviced accommodation establishments in Da Nang has also tightened COVID-19 prevention measures. For example, the Furama Resort Danang has focussed on upgradding its COVID-19 prevention equipment since late March 2021. In addition, the installation of new remote fever screening system helps the resort reduce the time to check the temperature of MICE delegations before entering the venue.

Mr. Brett Burton, Regional Operations Director at Furama Resort Villas & Ariyana Da Nang remarked that the use of COVID-19 prevention equipment in Da Nang holiday resorts would help bolster the confidence of tourists by making sure that they are safe while staying in the city.
