Da Nang detects more than 160 people trying to illegally enter South Korea via waterways
The Da Nang police forces are, for the time being, conducting a probe into a case in which more than 160 Vietnamese nationals have been found attempting to illegally enter South Korea for job opportunities via waterways.
On the evening of May 15, police forces discovered these above-mentioned people staying in three hotels on Nguyen Van Thoai Street, Ngu Hanh Son District and September 2 Street, Hai Chau District, while they were waiting for two Vietnamese men who claimed support for their South Korea entry procedures.
The would-be border jumpers who hail from 18 Vietnamese localities had stayed at these hotels since May 11.
If their illegal entries into the foreign country are successful, they will be required to pay US$ 10,000 each.
The case is still under further investigation.
Viet Nam has closed its borders since March last year as part of efforts to COVID-19 containment.
