Surgeons of the Da Nang Family Hospital has successfully performed an emergency surgery to remove large fibroids to save a woman who has had the tumor for over 15 years.

The woman was hospitalised due to abnormal growths in the uterus, anemia-related fatigue, and low levels of hemoglobin.

The surgeons performed laparoscopic surgery to remove her appendages and fibroids, uterus through her vagina.

Doctor Nguyen Thi Thanh Loan from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Da Nang Family Hospital, said that the surgeons removed a large submucosal tumor measuring 70mm x 80mm situated in the uterus during the hours-long surgery in order to stop her suffering from prolonged menstrual bleeding and anemia.

The surgery was completed successfully at the hospital. Just one week after surgery, the woman was stable. Currently, the woman is allowed to leave the hospital after treatment.
