Da Nang records two more COVID-19 cases on May 21

Da Nang registered two more locally transmitted COVID-19 patients on May 21 who are close contacts of previously confirmed positive cases. These patients whose source of infection is known tested positive for the virus during their quarantine periods.

The municipal Steering Committee for the COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Friday unveiled what it has known so far about the travel and contact history of the two new COVID-19 patients.

One is 10-year-old boy residing in Phuoc Hung Village, Hoa Nhon Commune, Hoa Vang District. He was identified as a close contact of his infected mother who worked as a miscellaneous staff at the AMIDA international beauty salon, one of the city's COVID-19 hotspots.

On May 6 and 7,  the boy stayed at home and only communicated with his mother and grandparents.

On May 8, following his mother’s positive test result for the virus, the boy and other his family members were taken to a concentrated quarantine venue.

On May 9,  the boy tested negative for the virus for the first time via the Realtime RT-PCR method by the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control (Da Nang CDC).

From May 10 to 17, the boy was kept at the designated quarantine site, and only came into contact with his grandparents, aunts and uncles.

He started coughing on May 18.

On May 20, he had his swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing for the second time, and his Realtime RT-PCR test result came back positive for the virus.

He is now being treated in the Hoa Vang Medical Centre.

The other is a 33-year-old woman dwelling on Phan Ke Binh Street, Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District. She works as a customer care staff at the An Don Industrial Park-based Truong Minh company, one of the city’s coronavirus hotspots with many positive cases registered in the previous days.

On May 1, the woman went to work in the morning and went shopping at the Dong Da market in the afternoon.

On May 2, she went to work in the morning and returned to her biological parents' house on Tran Hoanh Street in the afternoon.

On May 3, she went to work in the morning and came back home in the afternoon.

On May 4, she went to work in the morning and took her sick child to the Emergency Department of the Da Nang Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital in the evening for checkups.

On May 5, she took her child to the hospital for re-examination. After that, she came to her parents’ house on Tran Hoanh Street.

On May 6, she only stayed ay her parents’ home on Tran Hoanh Street.

On May 7 and 8, she only went to work in the morning and returned home on Phan Ke Binh Street in the afternoon.

On May 9, she stayed at home in the morning. At noon, she attended the death anniversary on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street.

On May 10, she only went to work in the morning and returned home on Phan Ke Binh Street in the afternoon.

On May 11, the woman was put under quarantine at the Hoang Sa Junior High School after one of her co-workers at the Truong Minh Company had tested positive for the virus.

From May 11 to 20, she was put under quarantine.

On May 20, she tested positive for the virus as confirmed by the CDC Da Nang via the Realtime RT-PCR method.

Anyone who accidentally came to the places where the two infected patients had visited whilst they were infectious should immediately contact medical centres in their locales for timely assistance.
