Da Nang warns residents of phone scam from callers impersonating representatives from functional bodies
A new type of telephone scam is targeting residents citywide in an attempt to gain banking information from unsuspecting residents.
Da Nang Department of Transport Director Le Van Trung has said that the agency has received numerous calls from residents concerned about unsolicited calls from scammers posing as representatives from functional bodies.

Scammers by phone seek the victims’personal data or immediate payment of a supposed fine for their traffic violations. They claim to be from the municipal Department of Transport, the police or the court.
These calls are phone scams/phishing attempts, and residents are urged to not provide the caller with any information. The Da Nang Department of Transport does not solicit money over the phone.
Director Trung said: “The city’s traffic inspectors only send an invitation and notice of violation in writing to those who break traffic rules. Handling traffic violations are conducted in person and not over the phone”.
If such calls are received, people should make a note of the number and any other pertinent details about the call and immediately hang up, and report the incident if possible. Phone scams should be reported to Da Nang police for help.
