Ha Noi couple with confirmed coronavirus not linked to two cases of Indian variant in Da Nang
The Da Nang Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) affirmed on Monday that the Ha Noi couple with confirmed coronavirus are not linked to two cases of the Indian variant in Da Nang.
According to Da Nang CDC’s report submited to the municipal Department of Health, the Da Nang two cases of variant from India were confirmed in a couple living on Le Dinh Ly street, Hai Chau district.
They are a 27-year-old man who is a Chinese home teacher, and his wife, a 26-year-old woman in business. They have become the 3,772nd and 3,773rd COVID-19 patients in Viet Nam.
The two cases of COVID-19 in Da Nang sat near the two Chinese experts who tested positive for the virus after returning to their country when they all travelled on the flight VN160 from Da Nang to Ha Noi at 10.45 a.m on April 29.
During their stay in Ha Noi from April 29 to May 2, the Da Nang couple visited such places as Old Quarter, a hotel on 95 Hang Chieu Street, drank coffee at No.3 Le Thai To Street, and Vincom Shopping Mall on Ba Trieu Street, Opera House. In addition, they took a Ha Giang car tour to visit Lung Cu flagpole, Yen Minh Town, Tham Ma Slope, the mansion of the king of Meo people, Dong Van, Pao's house, and other places where they couldnot remember exact addresses.
The Da Nang couple returned home from Ha Noi on the flight VJ529 at around 9.30 pm on May 2.
After returning from Ha Noi at about 11.30pm on the same day, the Da Nang couple self-isolated at home and did not go anywhere after hearing that they shared the plane with Chinese infected men.
The Da Nang couple was placed under quarantine in the Thanh Khe District Medical Centre on May 3. They received COVID-19 negative test results for samples taken on May 3.
One day later, May 4, they were taken to a dormitory in the western side of Da Nang for quarantine. They received COVID-19 positive test results for samples taken on May 13.
The Da Nang CDC affirmed that this couple was placed under quarantine after returning from Ha Noi, and tests on them came back negative for the virus at that time. Therefore, the two patients were unlikely to spread the virus to others in Da Nang.
The Da Nang couple flew to Ha Noi at about 10.45 am on April 29, and they flew home from Ha Noi at about 9.30 pm on May 2.
Meanwhile, the Ha Noi couple, who have become the 3,634nd and 3,633rd COVID-19 patients in Viet Nam, left Ha Noi for Da Nang at around 1.20pm on April 30, and returned home from Da Nang at about 10.15am on May 2. .
Therefore, the two cases of the Indian variant in Da Nang had not come in contact with the Ha Noi couple, and they were unlikely to spread the virus to the Ha Noi couple during their stay in Da Nang.
