Travel and contact history of two new COVID-19 patients confirmed in Da Nang on May 19

Da Nang registered two locally transmitted patients on Wednesday, one of whom is of unknown source of infection in the community, thus bringing the city’s total cases to 146 since May 3 when the first community infection was reported, said the municipal Department of Health.

The municipal Steering Committee for the COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Thursday evening unveiled what it has known so far about the travel and contact history of the two COVID-19 patients confirmed on Wednesday.

One is a 31-year-old woman working as a medical staffer at Tran Cao Van Street-located Doan Thi Diem Primary School. She lives with her husband and son at apartment building No E83 at the corner of Ly Tu Tan and Le Duc Tho streets in Son Tra District.

On May 5, the woman went to the Mai traditional market on Nguyen Phan Vinh Street, Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District, bought Dai Loc ‘Quang’ noodles on Le Duc Tho Street opposite the Vuong Mit shop and had contact with the shop’s owner, came to her sister’s residence at K139 Tran Quang Khai, then went to work at the Doan Thi Diem Primary School and came into close contacts with some of her colleagues here.

On May 6, in addition to her visits to the aforementioned addresses, the woman and her sister went to the Dien May Xanh electronics store on Le Duan Street to buy a water purifier. Here, she had no contact with anyone, then went home.

On May 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, she went shopping at the Mai Market. On May 11 alone, she bought ‘Banh cuon’ (steamed rolled rice pancakes) at Ms Hoa eatery on Le Tan Trung, came to her sister’s residence at K139 Tran Quang Khai, went to work, bought sticky rice on Ky Dong Street near the electricity pole of the Ky Dong market, and interacted another resident living on the second floor of the same apartment building.

On May 12, 13 and 14, the woman came to the Mai market, Ms Hoa eatery, K139 Tran Quang Khai, and Doan Thi Diem school, and then went home.

On May 15 and 16, the woman came to the same venues as above, in addition to her contact with another resident living on the second floor of the same apartment building.

On May 17, at 6:00pm, she went shopping at a Vinmart store at the beginning of Le Tan Trung Street and had contact with staff here, then went home and did not go anywhere.

On May 18, at around 5:40 am, she had her nasal swab samples taken for SARS-CoV-2 testing by the Son Tra District Medical Centre staff at the Nguyen Tri Phuong Primary School, and her test result returned positive for the virus.

The other is a 37-year-old woman living on Luu Trong Lu Street, Tan An Ward, Hoi An, Quang Nam Province. She works at the Truong Minh Trading Service JSC based in An Don Industrial Park, Son Tra District, Da Nang. This company is one of the major COVID-19 outbreaks in the city.
She came into close contact with a man who tested positive for the virus on May 11.

On May 4, the woman worked at the Truong Minh company from 7:00am to 3:00pm, and worked as a sanitation worker at the Villa Pudavida 2 at 25/27 Luu Trong Lu from 4:30pm to 9:00pm, and then went home.

On May 5 and 6, she worked at the Truong Minh company and returned home.

On May 7, in the evening, she went shopping at the Anh Thu grocery store and contacted the cashier. On May 8, she went to a small market near her house and then went home without contacting others, except her children.

On May 9, on her way home, at around 2:00 pm, she stopped at a checkpoint setup the boundary area between Da Nang and Hoi An, and had close contact with a staffer on duty here.

On May 10, between 5:00 am to 9:00am, the woman went to Villa Pudavida for cleanups.

On May 11, the woman was put under quarantine at the Hoang Sa Junior High School after one of her co-workers at the Truong Minh had tested positive for the virus.

On May 15, she showed symptoms such as stuffy nose, chest tightness and pain in the back of the neck.

On May 18, she tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 as confirmed by the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control.

Anyone who accidentally came to the places where the two infected patients had visited whilst they were infectious should immediately contact medical centres in their locales for timely assistance.
