According to initial investigation results, from December 21 to 29, 2020, the aforementioned arrested persons supported 49 Chinese nationals to illegally enter or transit through Viet Nam in an attempt to reach Cambodia for joining Chinese cyber-gambling and cybercriminal groups there.

These suspects illegally pocketed VND 28 - 40 million for each brokerage trip during which three or four Chinese border jumpers were picked up at a planned point near the border area, and they were then transported to Ho Chi Minh City or neighbouring Dong Nai Province for making unlawful entry to Cambodia.

The aforementioned arrest of the 2 suspects came after a further investigation into a case under which 29-year-old Dinh Xuan Hien, a driver hailing from the northern province of Thai Binh, was taken into custody in December, 2020 for carrying four Chinese nationals who failed to show any documents proving their legal entry into Viet Nam.

The driver was hired to carry Chinese passengers from Ha Noi to HCM City through Da Nang for 20 million VND (871US$).

Till date, through Hien’s full confessions, the Investigation Security Agency under the Ministry of Public Security and the Da Nang Department of Police jointly tracked down a total of 22 suspects joining the ring brokering Chinese nationals to unlawfully enter and stay in Viet Nam.

The case is still under expanded investigation.
