Caretaker in Da Nang hospital tests positive for COVID-19
A caretaker at the Da Nang General Hospital on Tuesday tested positive for COVID-19, the Da Nang Department of Health confirmed.
The 32-year-old man residing in Dien Ban Town, neighbouring Quang Nam Province was permited to take care of his seriously ill father who is being treated in the Department of Endocrinology and Nephrology of the Da Nang General Hospital on June 27 after he tested negative for the deadly virus for the first time earlier on the same day.
However, the man had his nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing for the second time, and his test turned positive on Tuesday. Meanwhile, his father is confirmed to be free from the virus.
The infected man has already rushed to the Da Nang Lung Hospital for treatment. Some internal at-risk areas at the Da Nang Hospital have been sealed off to prevent the further spread of the virus.
According to Doctor Nguyen Thanh Phuc, the Director of Da Nang Lung Hospital, the patient’s health is currently in a stable condition.
Since the new coronavirus wave hit the city on May 3, Da Nang has registered 240 COVID-19 patients, of whom 82 were linked to an infected security guard at the Thank Khe District-based Duy Tan Plastics Company.
