Da Nang on Thursday reported no new confirmed case of coronavirus in a 24-hour period, and the ciy has gone 16 straight days without recording a locally transmitted Covid-19 case, a milestone that has both been welcomed and brought warnings against complacency.

The total number of active cases in Da Nang remained at 158, all in managed isolation.

He also warned against complacency, saying the risk of COVID-19 resurgence is still possible.

Mr Minh asked authorities in Hai Chau, Ngu Hanh Son, and Thanh Khe districts to complete the city’s mass testing programme for families in their locales as soon as they can.

The functional forces were told to enforce regulations requiring businesses to close for non-compliance with the city’s COVID-19 rules. In addition, relevant agencies and district authorities were asked to work together to ensure strict enforcement of preventive and protective measures against the pandemic in businesses with a large number of employees. He also called for continued monitoring of steps taken for COVID-19 management.

Till date, 55 of the total cases have been fully recovered from the illness after treatment, and they are eligible for discharge.

On June 3, a total of 30,494 people declared their health status online, of whom, 154 reported symptoms, and 217 others reported to have passed through areas affected by the epidemic.
