Da Nang functional forces urged to tighten monitoring at points of entry and ringfenced COVID hotspots

Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh on Friday afternoon called for continued vigilance against COVID-19 amid surge in cases in many Vietnamese localities.

Chairman Chinh also highlighted the significance of increasing controls at points of entry to city in reducing the risk of SARS-CoV-2 re-introduction from new arrivals. He also called for continued monitoring of steps taken for COVID-19 management at ringfenced COVID hotspots in the city.

The city government leader asked officials and community taskforces to enforce COVID-19 regulations across the city in order to make sure each individual is sticking to advice and guidance on infection prevention and control from the municipal government and health bodies.

Mr Chinh demanded the health agency to roll out the COVID-19 testing programme for target groups in the city in accordance with the guidelines from from the municipal government.

Chairman Chinh directed officials to take more drastic measures to break chains of transmission within the ringfenced COVID hotspot at the triangle area of Le Duan - Hoang Hoa Tham - Ly Thai To streets.

Da Nang on Friday ( June 25) recorded 5 new confirmed cases, all contracted locally, in the 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 72 after the resurgence of COVID-19 in June, the Da Nang Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control (CDC)’s figure shows. The new cases are the primary close contacts of COVID-19 patients, all in managed isolation.

According to latest data released by the Da Nang CDC on Friday ( June 25), medical workers took swab samples of 1,200 people in the city to test for the virus, and the tested persons are those who have been to the announced exposure sites in the city.

Till date, Da Nang has already tracked down 560 primary close contacts of the infected patients, and put them under quarantine at designated facilities while local healthcare workers are putting in place close monitoring of around 2,800 secondary close contacts at their places of residence.
