Vice Chairman Nam demanded authorities in Thanh Khe District to apply strict measures to control the spread of infection in the ring-fenced COVID hotspot amid surge in cases over recent days. The focus must be paid on introducing rigorous measures in the area in lockdown to gain control of the COVID-19 situation as soon as possible.
“Leaders of districts, businesses, departments and agencies across Da Nang must step up and show great leadership, as well as play key roles in the fight against COVID-19 during these most challenging of times. The government at local level must center its people in an active role with the slogan 'Every citizen is a soldier'. Everyone has a part to play in the fight to limit the spread of this deadly virus.” Mr Nam remarked.
The city leader urged each individual to have to do everything they can to keep themselves and others safe in addition to playing an active part in timely reporting to local authorities about new arrivals or returnees from COVID-19 affected areas who fail to declare their health status and fail to comply with COVID-19 regulations.
Mr Nam also highlighted the significance of tightening monitoring of incomers at all points of entry in reducing the risk of SARS-CoV-2 re-introduction from them.
Da Nang on Saturday ( June 26) recorded 7 new confirmed cases, all contracted locally, in the 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 79 after the resurgence of COVID-19 in June, the Da Nang Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control (CDC)’s figure shows.
The new cases are four primary close contacts of COVID-19 patients and three others who are living in the ring-fenced COVID hotspot at the triangle area of Le Duan - Hoang Hoa Tham - Ly Thai To streets. All of these cases are in managed isolation and linked to the 59-year- old security guard in the Duy Tan Plastic Company who tested positive for the virus on June 18.
