Amid scorching heat with Da Nang's mercury remaining as high as 40 degrees Celsius, functional forces staffing at COVID-19 checkpoints set up at the city’s entrance gates have always strived to fulfill their assigned tasks well. They are in such as measuring road users’ body temperature and guiding them to declare their health status.

Although the outdoor temperature reaching over 40 degrees Celsius and the heat is steaming from the road surface, the traffic police force staffing at a checkpoint set up on a section of National Highway 14B in Hoa Nhon Commune) still clings to the road to fulfill their duties.

As observed at a checkpoint on a section of National Highway 14B in Hoa Nhon Commune, Hoa Vang District, the faces, hands, and backs of each traffic police officer seemed to be bathed in sweat during the dog days of summer. At noon, “it is hotter than blue blazes”.

However, traffic police officers and soldiers still cling to the road, giving orders and guiding vehicles to the checkpoints for implementing COVID-19 prevention and control measures.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Minh Hoang, a traffic police station at the Hoa Nhon entrance gate shared: ‘The road’s surface is hot, so even with shoes on, the heat can be a nightmare for feet. At the end of each duty shift, my feet are blistered and painful”.

The staff members of checkpoints have always made their great dedication and devotion to their assigned duties regardless of hardship and difficulties facing them.

Due to the hot weather and constant observation of vehicles, the traffic police force have to strain their eyes to detect vehicles.
