The authorities in Da Nang’s Thanh Khe District on Tuesday afternoon imposed VND 7.5 million fine on a woman for escaping from a quarantine facility under Regulations of Viet Nam’s national government on Administrative Penalties in the healthcare sector in line with Decree 117 dated September 28, 2020.

Thanh Khe District police say the woman is the close contact of an infected patient, and she was ordered to quarantine at a local facility.

Police said she was found later in Lien Chieu District. This has forced local tracers and health officials to be in a race against time to track down 281 her close contacts and take their swab samples to test for COVID-19, costing VND 45 million in total.

The woman has been put back in quarantine. She must follow quarantine rules for the remainder of her quarantine period, or face tough quarantine enforcement for non-compliance.
