1,700-bed field-hospital expected to put into use in Da Nang today

During his onsite visit to a COVID-19 field hospital in the site of a dormitory in Lien Chieu district in the west of the city on Thursday afternoon, Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh highlighted huge efforts the health sector, the Da Nang General Hospital Nang and related units have made to complete the installation of the field hospital for COVID-19 amid surge in community cases.

“The field hospital has a total of 1,700 beds but can be able to increase to 2,000-2,200 beds. This is the second facility of Da Nang Hospital which will be used for receiving and treating asymptomatic or mild patients with COVID-19 infection. Healthcare workers of Da Nang General Hospital will play leading role in treating infected patients in the field hospital with the active involvement of their colleagues from private and public medical facilities across the city," said Doctor Ngo Thi Kim Yen, the Director of the municipal Department of Health.

Doctor Le Duc Nhan, the Director of the Da Nang General Hospital, said that it took 4 days to complete the installation of the full-equipped field hospital which fully meets all the requirements from the Ministry of Health.

Doctor Nhan remarked that medical equipment, necessities and medicines along with healthcare workers are available and the field hospital is ready for COVID-19 patients.

The field hospital is scheduled to officially put into use today, Friday, July 23, and it has the capacity to handle particular medical situations, even emergency cases, confirmed severe and critical cases of COVID-19.
