A man, 74, in Da Nang tests positive when arriving for emergency care

On Wednesday morning, a 74-year-old man in Thac Gian Ward, Thanh Khe District tested positive for COVID-19 when arriving at the Da Nang General Hospital, the largest of its kind in the city, for emergency care, said the city’s Health Department.

Previously, on Tuesday evening, a man was taken to the Da Nang General Hospital by his family members for emergency due to the signs of fatigue, fever and cough. Here, he got tested for the virus.

The initial screening test result released by the hospital showed that the patient was positive for the virus and this was once confirmed by the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control (CDC) via the Realtime RT-PCR method.

Immediately after detecting such a new COVID-19 case, CDC Da Nang coordinated with the local authorities to carry out contact-tracing, isolating and testing.

Currently, a neighborhood on Tan Da Street where the patient lives has been blocked off for preventing the COVID-19 spread.

Till date, 5 close contacts of the patient, namely his wife, children and grandchildren, also tested positive for the virus for the first time.

As for the patient’s travel and contact history, in the morning from July 1 to 13, the patient did physical exercise at a public park in the Ham Nghi lakeside area on Tan Da Street. In the afternoon of these aforementioned dates, he watched chess games for leisure at the same park.

On July 11, he attended a funeral at 121, Phan Thanh Street, Thac Gian Ward, Thanh Khe District.  Also on Wednesday, the Da Nang Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control released locations visited by a few new COVID-19 patients registered while they were infectious. In detail, at 11 a.m. on July 10, an infected person came to see doctor at Dr. Them clinic at 308 Hai Phong and another one resides at 86/118/34 Nguyen Huy Tuong Street.

It is recommended that those who have been to any of the aforementioned sites during the relevant timeframes should quickly contact the nearest medical facilities for assistances and medical inventions.
