Following recent instructions by the Da Nang government, the city-based Tho Quang Fishing Wharf, the largest of its kind in Central Viet Nam, temporarily closed for 7 days at 3:00pm on Monday (July 26) following some COVID-19 cases had been detected.

Before the closure order, a large number of fishermen and seafood traders operating at the Da Nang seafood wholesale market nearby were seen rushing to complete the trading in fresh fish in a prompt fashion.

Fishermen hailing from Da Nang and elsewhere in Central Viet Nam also sold as much freshly-caught fish as possible in tandem with uploading enough ice, food, drinking water, fuels and other necessary provisions before leaving the Tho Quang fishing wharf.

Most of the seafood traders and fishermen were in favour of the suspension of the operation of the fishing wharf and the seafood wholesale market under the direction of the municipal administration.

Currently, the management board of the Tho Quang fishing wharf is continuously coordinating with the Son Tra Border Guard Station to guide fishing boats operating nearby to anchor at other fishing ports for unloading seafood.
