Mr Nam demanded the health agency to conduct second COVID-19 tests on all contacts of the infected man, residing in Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District, who tested positive for the virus on July 10.
“The Da Nang government has agreed to conduct COVID-19 tests for all contacts of confirmed cases every three days to allow positive cases to be caught quickly in order to enable appropriate measures to be tailored to tackle the deadly virus in specific areas," emphasised Vice Chairman Nam.
“Given that the control of people and vehicles entering and leaving the city could last long-term, police must work with relevant units to conduct surveys across the city to choose suitable locations to set up more COVID-19 checkpoints in an attempt to increase checks and tighten surveillance on arrivals and returnees from COVID-19 affected areas. The intention is to reduce the risk of re-introduction or importation of SARS-CoV-2 into the city in the face of complicated and unpredictable progression of the epidemic’, the city leader requested.
Da Nang on Tuesday (July 13) recorded 3 new postive cases, bringing the cumulative total to 118 after the resurgence of COVID-19 on June 18.
Dr. Ton That Thanh, the Director of the Da Nang Cener for Disease Control and Prevention said that nearly 12,000 people across the city on Tuesday got tested for the virus. Included were medical workers, inpatients and their family caregivers, people with suspected infection in healthcare facilities, all the primary close contacts, people in managed isolation, people completing their mandatory quarantine period, returnees from affected areas, and people in ring-fenced COVID-19 hotspots.
