COVID-19 mass testing rolled out across Da Nang from July 17-21: "One door-one test" approach
In response to a surge in coronavirus cases, the Da Nang government has initiated a mass testing campaign, the so-called “One door-one test” (ODOT), which utilised PCR assays to test one family member (age>18) from each of the 276,332 families across the city.
The government is rolling out mass community testing across Da Nang from July 17-21 to detect people who have COVID-19 but show no symptoms.
The programme was announced by the Da Nang People’s Committee on Saturday afternoon. Targeted asymptomatic testing and subsequent isolation is highly effective in breaking chains of transmission as part of the Da Nang Administration's ongoing efforts to tackle rising cases.
Household representative sample strategy will enable Da Nang to continue monitoring of the population’s virus exposure for better decision making.
The government is asking household representative who is most likely to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 to join the asymptomatic testing drive. Included are those at greater risk of exposure to infections, representatives from large families and landlords who provide accommodation rental services for immigrant workers and students.
Residents in "Ring-fencing" COVID-19 hotspots will get tested for the virus periodically in accordance with guidelines produced by the municipal government.
People who experience such symptoms as fever, respiratory symptoms, coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath, pneumonia are advised to go to a medical facility to get tested for SARS-CoV-2.
