Da Nang government to consider easing COVID-19 restrictions

Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam on Thursday afternoon praised district authotities and the health agency for the huge efforts they had put in conducting prompt and thorough investigations into new COVID-19 cases, quickly identifying their close contacts, isolating and testing them in an attempt to break chains of transmission in the city.

Mr Nam also remarked that the tightening of controls and the enforcement of COVID-19 regulations in points of entry, ring-fencing virus hotspots and quarantine facilities proved effective in stamping out community transmission.

The city leader called for continued vigilance against COVID-19 amid growing outbreak in many Vietnamese localities.

Vice Chairman Nam directed district-level authorities and relevant agencies to put in place thorough prevention measures to slow the spread of the virus in addition to enforcing regulations to have hash penalties for non-compliance with COVID-19 rules.

Mr Nam asked education and health officials to roll out the COVID-19 testing for more than 16,000 people who are candidates of the upcoming national high school graduation exams along with exams officers and other staff involved in exam delivery.

“ The health agency and the Thanh Khe District authorities must work together to generate accurate COVID risk assessment at the ring-fencing hotspot in the triangle shaped area of Le Duan - Hoang Hoa Tham - Ly Thai To streets in order to make proposals to the government to apply ring- fencing to smaller area. The Da Nang government will look at the latest advice from health officials to consider lifting ban on certain activities with proper precautions in place”, the city leader emphasised.

Da Nang on Thursday ( July 1) recorded 3 new cases in the 24 hours, all in managed isolation, bringing the cumulative total to 87 after the resurgence of COVID-19 in June, the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control’s figure shows.

Since June 18, a combined total of 74,000 people in Da Nang have got tested for the virus.
