The health sector was asked to undertake COVID-19 risk assessment to identify appropriate responses to the pandemic in face of delta variant.

Tracers and health officials were urged to ramp up contact tracing, isolating and testing efforts to concentrate on outbreaks, especially the Da Son Slaughterhouse and the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf in order to slow the spread of the virus following a spike in community cases.

“The Da Son Slaughterhouse and the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf are high-risk areas for spreading the coronavirus. It is very necessary to tighten monitoring of nearly 3,500 contacts of confirmed cases linked to the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf”, Mr Triet emphasized.

The health agency was asked to make an action plan to roll out a mass immunization campaign across the city in efforts to make sure that 20,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses will be administered each day when the vaccine are available.

Municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh demanded the municipal People's Committee Office to give advice to the government to take appropriate measures to stop the spread of delta variant.

The city government leader also called for enhanced surveillance of all contacts of COVID-19 cases related to the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf with a focus on keeping a close watch of the secondary close contacts who are asked to self-isolate at home, in addition to strengthening the monitoring of those with suspected COVID-19 symptoms in a bid to reduce risk of virus transmission among community.

The Department of Industry and Trade was asked to develop a plan to operate wet markets at capacity limits to allow space for social distancing among stallholders. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development was urged to develop a comprehensive risk management plan for the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf after it is allowed to reopen.

As of July 28, Da Nang had reported a total of 514 active cases of COVID-19 associated with 23 clusters, of which, 39 are related to the Da Nang Slaughterhouse and 81 are linked to the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf.
