Da Nang records 34 new cases of COVID-19

Thirty-four COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Da Nang on Monday, July 26,  the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced.

Of special note, 20 of the total 34 confirmed cases were linked to the highly transmissible infection chain at the Tho Quang fishing wharf.

In detail, 8 patients were documented during their stay at concentrated quarantine establishments as the close contacts.

Five were spotted through the large-scale sampling for COVID-19 testing at markets across the city. The five are fish stall holders at the Tho Quang fishing wharf, the Da Nang wholesale market in Hai Chau District’s Hoa Cuong Ward and the Quang Thanh traditional market in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Khanh Bac Ward.

In addition, there were 7 patients who are natives of Thanh Duc 2 village, Pho Thanh Commune, Duc Pho District, Quang Ngai Province trading at Tho Quang fishing wharf.

Till day, 54 positive cases linked to the Tho Quang fishing wharf have been documented, making this venue face a high risk of more infections.

Meanwhile, the infection chain at the Viet Hoa Electronics Company based in the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park is still highly transmissible with 9 positive cases logged on July 26, bringing the total infections to 187 till date.

Also, 5 cases related to the Da Son slaughterhouse were reported on the same day.

The total infections recorded in the city have climbed to 438 since July 10 when a local man in Cam Le District’s Hoa Xuan Ward was confirmed contracting the virus after many days of no community transmissions in the city.
