Nearly 1,500 workers in the Viet Hoa Electronics Co., Ltd located in the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang, got tested for COVID-19 during the night of Wednesday (July 14) after a case of COVID-19 was detected yesterday. They are awaiting for their test results from the municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Doctor Le Van Si, the Director of the Lien Chieu District Medical Center said that 50 medical workers on Thursday morning took a combined throat and nose swab of the remaining more than 3,500 workers in this company to test for the virus.

Doctor Si said the focus is being on ramping up contact tracing, isolating and testing of all contacts of the infected worker and people in his associated exposure sites to slow the spread of the virus.

The Da Nang Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control is urging the health agency and relevant units to use all the resources available to ramp up COVID-19 testing for people who have been exposed to the infected worker in the Viet Hoa company to allow positive cases caught quickly in a bid to break the chains of transmission.

The Authority of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Parks has asked to work with leaders of the Viet Hoa company to develop an action plan to prepare for a designated quaratine site for possible increasing number of active cases of COVID-19 and their contacts.

Our reporter’s updates on Thursday morning show that 14 more workers in this company have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 because of being exposed to their coworker with confirmed COVID-19.
