Businesses proactively accompany Da Nang community in COVID-19 combat

Amid the negative impacts of COVID-19 wave, many businesses across Viet Nam have managed to “keep their heads above water”. Regardless of this challenging fact, they have shown their active companionship and great support for the Da Nang administration and community in the tough fight against COVID-19.

Amongst the aforementioned businesses are VietJet Aviation Joint Stock Company (VietJet Air) and Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank – HDBank, both belonging to Sovico Group.

The duo have donated Da Nang two specialized ambulances which are now used for transportation and all health functionaries in the Da Nang Lung Hospital and Hoa Vang District Medical Centre where COVID-19 patients are being treated.

In an active response to appeals from the Da Nang Association of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee, a number of businesses have done practical and meaningful deeds.

The Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) and its members have actively contributed a total of nearly VND27 billion VND to COVID-19 prevention and control missions in Da Nang and other Vietnamese localities.

Particularly in Da Nang, EVNCPC has donated VND470 million to the COVID-19 vaccine fund, VND100 million for the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control (Da Nang CDC), a sum of VND150 million worth of 15 automatic body temperature monitors for COVID-19 checkpoints at all entrances.

EVNCPC General Director Ngo Tan Cu sais, “The main task of EVNCPC is to ensure sufficient and smooth electricity supplies for customers. However, EVNCPC has always been active in implementing social welfare work for the sake of the whole community. This is a social responsibility and an honor to do a small part in the city’s socio-economic development”.

In a similar vein, Sun Group, a Vietnamese realty giant headquartered in Da Nang, has sponsored 30,000 gifts, with each worth VND500,000, including essential food and necessities for 30,000 poor and disadvantaged households across the city.

In addition, 1,400 tonnes of root, tuber and leaf vegetables worth a combined total of VND15 billion and 100,000 COVID-19 rapid test kits totaling VND15 billion in aid have been supplied to Da Nang. The total value of support is an estimated VND45 billion.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sun Group Dang Minh Truong said that the ‘stay-at-home-at-all-times’ 7-day order imposed on all Da Nang dwellers for COVID-19 containment is a strict yet wise decision of the city's leaders.

"We has accompanied Da Nang through waves of COVID-19, so we understand the hardships poor families are facing. Such gifts full of humanitarian love sent to those in need show our desire to join hands with the local administration to significantly relieve the financial burdens shouldered by the disadvantaged. We strongly believe that, with the kind attention paid by the local government, the active companionship of the entrepreneurial community, residents will firmly and unanimously implement the COVID-19 prevention mandates so that the city will be free from the virus soon”, Truong said.

Alongside Sun Group, Phuong Trang - Futa Group has donated to the city a number of medical equipment for pandemic prevention and control tasks, including 2,000 PCR rapid test kits, 50,000 antigen test kits and 20 ventilators. Previously, Futa Group had presented VND20 billion in cash to the city's COVID-19 vaccine fund.

As revealed by Vice Chairman of the Da Nang Association of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee Duong Dinh Lieu, from May 1 to the end of August 15, 2021, Da Nang-based organisations and individuals contributed a total of nearly 53 billion VND.

Also, the city received 1 million medical masks were donated by Song Hong Construction and Technology Joint Stock Company, 15 body temperature sensors from  the Central Power Corporation, 960 dry antiseptic gene tubes from CP C1 Ha Noi Pharmaceutical Company.

Besides, the Duy Tan Plastics Co., Ltd., directly supported CDC Da Nang with a Swiss-made COBAS 6800 automatic testing system and an 80C deep sound cabinet with a capacity of 519L made in Japan.

Particularly for essential goods, the Da Nang Association of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee received 222.5 tonnes of rice from local businesses and units, 484 barrels of soft drinks of all kinds from the Joy Beverage Co., Ltd, 48,215 tonnes of agricultural products and 200 gifts.

Till date, 670,501 tonnes of root, tuber and leaf vegetables donated by residents in Dai Loc District, Quang Nam Province, Sun Group and Phuong Trang Group, have arrived in Da Nang.

It is known that the above-mentioned amount of money in assistance for COVID-19 prevention and control missions in Da Nang, as well as essential items and goods have gone to areas in desperate need. In particular, medical equipment and supplies have been provided for front lines against the deadly virus.
