Da Nang police issue many fines to COVID curb violators, two men face heavy fines for violating 'stay-at-home' order

Two men aged 31 and 30 caught violating newly- imposed restrictions now face a heavy fine of VND 7.5 million each under Decree No. 117/2020/ND-CP prescribing penalties for administrative violations in the medical sector issued by the Ministry of Health as the Da Nang government has tightened measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, starting from 8am on August 16.

Patrol officers in Tan Chinh Ward, Thanh Khe District, found the two men on Ong Ich Khiem Street at 5:20am on Tuesday, August 17 for non-essential activity.     

During the first day of tougher COVID-19 curbs on Monday, August 16, police issued many fines for violating the Da Nang government imposed stay-at-home orders.

In Cam Le District, the taskforce at 107 checkpoints and 47 patrol teams across the district checked about 600 people who went out on the streets, mainly for COVID-19 testing purpose. In addition, administrative penalties were issued to 2 persons for leaving their homes without a reasonable excuse.

In Lien Chieu District, fines of 51.1 million VND were levied on 41 COVID-19 curb violators.

In Ngu Hanh Son District, staff at 13 checkpoints and 8 patrol teams stopped to check 899 vehicles involving 1,002 people, and issued warning to 18 people who went out on the streets for non-essential activity.

In Son Tra District, 10 district-level checkpoints and 690 ward-level checkpoints were set up. In the morning of August 16, a man was arrested for assaulting a police officer while he is in the execution of duty.

In Thanh Khe District, 116 rapid response teams were set up, and fines of VND 37.5 million were imposed on 5 people for non-compliance with the city’s COVID-19 rules.
