Da Nang records 169 COVID-19 infections on Aug.19, including 43 community cases
Da Nang reported 169 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, August 19, of which, 99 were in managed isolation, 12 were identified in local locked-down areas and the remaining 43 were detected in the community, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.
Out of the 43 community-acquired cases, 31 were detected from the ‘one door-one test’ campaign conducted across local districts.
Under this campaign, the only one representative of each local family who is aged over1 8 tests for the virus. In detail, Hoa Vang District recorded 3 cases (with each in Hoa Tien, Hoa Nhon, Hoa Phuoc communes), Cam Le District with 5 cases (in Khue Trung and Hoa Tho Dong wards), Hai Chau District with 7 cases (in Thach Thang, Hai Chau 1, Thanh Binh, Binh Hien wards), Ngu Hanh Son District with 3 cases (in Khue My Ward), Son Tra District with 8 cases (in Nai Hien Dong and Man Thai wards) and Thanh Khe District with 6 cases (in Hoa Khe, Xuan Ha, and Thanh Khe Tay wards).
It is highly concerning that 110 out of the 169 positive cases recorded on Thursday were linked to the high-risk cluster of infections at the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market, the largest of its kind in Central Viet Nam.
Total number of infected patients involved in this infection chain has climbed to 486 till date, of whom 204 are traders and labourer working at the market, 27 were shoppers and 205 were direct/indirect contacts.
It is highly concerning that, out of the above-mentioned 169 cases of COVID-19, 27 were of unknown source of infection, with 18 founded via the ‘one door-one test’ approach in the districts of Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Cam Le, Hoa Vang and Ngu Hanh Son, and 5 cases detected during examinations at medical facilities due to suspicious symptoms.
The total 169 COVID-19 cases ware recorded at the same time in many districts, namely 53 cases in Hai Chau, 18 in Thanh Khe, 47 in Cam Le, 19 in Son Tra 2 in Lien Chieu and 8 in Hoa Vang.
The total infections recorded in the city have risen to 2,297 since July 10.
