Da Nang records 78 new COVID-19 infections on Aug. 12, including 16 detected in the community
Da Nang reported 78 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, August 12, of which, 16 were detected in the community, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.
Amongst the 16 local-acquired cases, 7 are from unknown sources: 5 detected in high-risk areas in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District and My An Ward in Ngu Hanh Son District, 2 others residing in Phuoc My Ward, Son Tra District visiting the Da Nang Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital for regular check-ups.
The remaining community transmissions cases comprised 6 stall holders at the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market coming to the Cam Le Medical Centre, Military Hospital C17 and the Tam Tri Hospital due to their suspicious symptoms and 3 patients were related to the ongoing infection chain at the Tho Quang fishing wharf and the Hospital 199 under Ministry of Public Security.
In particular, 59 out of the total 78 cases identified on Thursday were linked to the Tho Quang fishing wharf.
Son Tra District is now still a coronavirus epicenter in Da Nang with the detection of 42 cases on Thursday, including 16 cases in Tho Quang Ward, 10 in Man Thai Ward, 6 in Nai Hien Dong Ward and An Hai Dong Ward each.
In addition, Lien Chieu District recorded 11 cases on the same day with 6 cases in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, 3 inHoa Hiep Bac Ward and 2 in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward.
The total infections recorded in the city have climbed to 1,551 since July 10.
