Da Nang reports 106 COVID-19 infections on Aug.29, including 6 community-acquired cases

Da Nang confirmed 106 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, August 29, of which, 51 were in designated quarantine facilities, 31 were self-isolating at home, 18 were identified in local zoned-off areas and the remaining 6 were detected in the community, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.

Out of the 6 community-found cases, 4 were detected at local medical facilities during checkups following the displaying of suspicious symptoms. In detail, 2 patients living in the same house came to the Thien Nhan clinic for COVID-19 testing after they had tested negative on August 21, while 2 symptomatic others had nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing at home by the medical staff of the Hoa Thuan Tay Ward in Hai Chau District and Hoa An Ward in Cam Le District.

The remaining 2 community-based cases were detected in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District and Tam Thuan Ward, Thanh Khe District, respectively, via the ‘one door-one test’ campaign applied to the only one representative of each household.

Three out of the 6 community transmission cases detected on August 29 are of unknown sources of infection.

As calculated, an additional 21 new cases were recorded via the testing on the representatives of all local households.

The infection cluster at the shut-down Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market, the largest of its kind in Central Viet Nam, shown signs of subsiding with the detection of 44 cases on the day, bringing the total infections to 1,416 till date, comprising 234 traders working at the market, 49 were shoppers and 1,133 were direct/indirect contacts.

Amongst the local districts, Cam Le recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases on the review day with 34, followed by Hai Chau with 32, Thanh Khe 17, Son Tra with 11, Lien Chieu with 9, Hoa Vang with 1 and Ngu Hanh Son with zero.

The day's number has pushed the city’s tally in the ongoing wave since July 10 to 3,872.
