Da Nang reports 183 COVID-19 cases on Aug.22, including 44 detected in the community
Da Nang confirmed 183 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, August 22, of which, 82 were in managed isolation, 54 were self- isolating at home, 3 were identified in local locked-down sites and the remaining 44 were detected within the community, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control reported.
Out of the community-acquired cases, 41 were found from the citywide ‘one door-one test’ campaign, 3 were detected during examinations at medical facilities based in Thanh Khe and Cam Le districts due to the showing of suspicious symptoms.
It is highly concerning that, out of the above-mentioned 183 cases, 40 were of unknown source of infection, with 26 cases founded via the ‘one door-one test’ approach, 2 symptomatic cases detected during examinations at the Thanh Khe District Medical Centre and 12 cases being the close contacts of previously confirmed patients.
The high-risk cluster at the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market, the largest of its kind in Central Viet Nam, showed no signs of subsiding with 103cases detected on Sunday.
Total number of infected patients involved in this infection chain has climbed to 815 till date, of whom 224 are traders and labourers working at the market, 42 were shoppers and 549 were direct/indirect contacts.
The 183 infections were recorded in many districts, namely 62 cases in Hai Chau, 53 in Cam Le, 35 in Thanh Khe, 12 in Lien Chieu and Son Tra each, 6 in Ngu Hanh Son and 3 in Hoa Vang each.
The day's number has pushed the city’s tally in the ongoing wave since July 10 to 2,844.
