Da Nang reports 56 new COVID-19 infections on Aug. 11, including 6 detected in the community

Da Nang reported 56 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, August 11, of which, 31 were under managed isolation, 19 were identified in local lockdown areas and the remainder were detected in the community, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.

Of the 6 local-acquired cases, 5 patients are workers at the Fujikura Automotive Viet Nam Company based in Hoa Cam Industrial Park, Cam Le District. The five were discovered during large –scale rapid testing conducted by the company. This is a new very highly transmissible chain of infection, related to the previous confirmed COVID-19 patient. The remaining one was a medical worker who worked as an apprentice nurse at the city-based Hospital 199 under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security.

In particular, 43 out of the total 56 cases identified on Wednesday were linked to the Tho Quang fishing wharf.

Son Tra District is now still a coronavirus epicenter in Da Nang with the detection of 30 cases on Wednesday, including 14 cases in Tho Quang Ward, 5 in Nai Hien Dong Ward and An Hai Bac Ward each.

The total infections recorded in the city have climbed to 1,473 since July 10.
