Da Nang reports 60 new COVID-19 infections on Aug 9; community-acquired cases down to zero for first time

Da Nang reported 68 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, August 9, of which, 51 were in managed isolation and the rest were detected in local lockdown areas, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control freshly announced.

The encouraging sign is that Monday saw zero cases of community transmission of coronavirus Da Nang-wide for the first time since July 10, in addition to decline in daily infection numbers recoded in this city.

In particular, 56 out of the total 60 cases identified on Monday were linked to the highly transmissible infection chain at the Son Tra District-based Tho Quang fishing wharf, bring the total infection here to 771 till date.

Son Tra District is still a coronavirus epicenter in Da Nang with the highest daily infection number, recording 50 cases on Monday, including 15 cases in Tho Quang Ward, 13 in Nai Hien Dong Ward, 10  in Man Thai Ward and 7 in An Hai Bac Ward.

The total infections recorded in the city have climbed to 1,343 since July 10.
