Da Nang sees daily infection tally down to 152 COVID-19 cases on Aug.23, including 34 indentified in the community
Da Nang documented 152 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, August 23, of which, 63 were in managed isolation, 41 were self- isolating at home, 14 were identified in local locked-down sites and the remaining 34 were detected within the community, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control released in its latest COVID-19 bulletin.
Out of the community-acquired cases, 29 were found from the citywide ‘one door-one test’ campaign, 5 were detected during examinations at local medical facilities due to the showing of suspicious symptoms.
It is highly concerning that, out of the above-mentioned 152 cases, 31 were of unknown source of infection, with 14 cases founded via the ‘one door-one test’ approach, 2 symptomatic cases detected during examinations at medical centres, and 13 cases being the close contacts of previously confirmed patients, and 2 cases in blockaded areas.
The high-risk cluster at the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market, the largest of its kind in Central Viet Nam, showed a sign of subsiding with 79 cases detected on Monday, many fewer than the figure recorded the previous day.
Total number of infected patients involved in this infection chain has climbed to 901 till date, of whom 232 are traders and labourers working at the market, 45 were shoppers and 624 were direct/indirect contacts.
The already-detected chains of infection in Son Tra District continued to record 13 more positive cases, namely 7 close contacts and 6 cases in sequestered neighbourhoods.
Notably, local lockdown areas such as those within the alley K43 Le Huu Trac, An Hai Dong Ward, and Nai Hien Dong 9 Street in Nai Hien Dong Ward reported some new cases.
Some wards citywide continued to registered many new cases on Monday, including Hoa Cuong Nam, Hoa Thuan Dong and Thach Thang wards in Hai Chau District with 14, 19 and 8 cases, respectively; Tam Thuan and Vinh Trung wards in Thanh Khe District with 8 and 11 cases respectively; Khue Trung Ward in Cam Le District and Khue My Ward in Ngu Hanh Son District with 10 cases each; and Hoa Chau Commune in Hoa Vang District with 8 cases.
The day's number has pushed the city’s tally in the ongoing wave since July 10 to 2,996.
