Da Nang's daily COVID-1 infection count down to 153 COVID-19 cases on Aug.24, including 18 detected in the community
Da Nang documented 153 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, August 24, of which, 43 were in designated quarantine facilities, 36 were self-isolating at home, 55 were identified in local lockdown areas and the remaining 18 were detected within the community, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control released in its latest COVID-19 bulletin.
Amongst the community-acquired cases, 13 were found from the citywide ‘one door-one test’ campaign, with 3 cases in the wards of Hoa Phat and Hoa Xuan, Cam Le District, 7 cases in the wards of Hoa Cuong Nam, Hoa Cuong Bac, Binh Thuan and Thuan Phuoc in Hai Chau District, 1 case in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District and 2 cases in the wards of Chinh Gian and Tan Chinh, Thanh Khe District. The remaining ones were discovered during examinations at local medical facilities due to the showing of suspicious symptoms.
It is highly concerning that, out of the above-mentioned 152 cases, 31 were of unknown source of infection, with 14 cases founded via the ‘one door-one test’ approach, 2 symptomatic cases detected during examinations at medical centres, and 13 cases being the close contacts of previously confirmed patients, and 2 cases in blockaded areas.
The high-risk cluster at the shut-down Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market, the largest of its kind in Central Viet Nam, recorded 96 cases detected on Tuesday, bringing the total infections to 999 till date, comprising 232 traders working at the market, 47 were shoppers and 720 were direct/indirect contacts.
There were 20 were of unknown source of infection, with 9 cases founded via the ‘one door-one test’ approach, 3 cases detected during examinations at medical centres and 8 cases under temporary self-isolation at home in blockaded areas.
Hai Chau District recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases on Tuesday with 90. Notably, Hoa Thuan Dong Ward confirmed 47 cases, mostly in blockaded neighbourhoods such as an alley No. 524 Hoang Dieu with 35 cases, alley No. 540 Hoang Dieu with 1 and alley No.149 Le Dinh Ly with 4, alley No. 448 Trung Nu Vuong with 3. In addition, Hoa Cuong Bac Ward logged 14 cases; whilst Binh Thuan Ward documented 9 cases.
Other districts continued to register some more cases, namely Thanh Khe with 21 cases, Cam Le with 26 cases, Ngu Hanh Son and Son Tra with 3 cases each, Lien Chieu with 6 cases and Hoa Vang with 4 cases.
The day's number has pushed the city’s tally in the ongoing wave since July 10 to 3,149.
