Da Nang's daily COVID-1 infection count reaches 162 COVID-19 cases on Aug.25, including 23 detected in the community
Da Nang confirmed 162 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, August 25, of which, 63 were in managed isolation, 34 were self-isolating at home, 42 were identified in local lockdown areas and the remaining 23 were acquired within the community, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced.
Of the 23 community-acquired cases, 17 were identified in Hai Chau and Lien Chieu districts in scope of the citywide ‘one door-one test’ campaign, whilst the remaining ones were discovered during examinations at local medical facilities due to the showing of suspicious symptoms.
Of special note, 18 were of unknown source of infection, with 13 cases founded via the ‘one door-one test’ approach, 4 symptomatic cases detected during examinations at the Son Tra and Lien Chieu medical centres, and the remaining one living in the same house with a person who had positive rapid test result.
The high-risk cluster at the shut-down Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market, the largest of its kind in Central Viet Nam, recorded 94 cases detected on Wednesday, bringing the total infections to 1,097 till date, comprising 232 traders working at the market, 47 were shoppers and 816 were direct/indirect contacts.
In addition, the chain of infection arising from the local lockdown areas in Son Tra District recorded 12 more COVID-19 cases.
Amongst the local district, Hai Chau recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases on Wednesday with 68, with 9 infections in Hoa Thuan Dong Ward, 16 in Hoa Cuong Nam, 15 in Thuan Phuoc Ward, and 11 in Thach Thang.
As for other districts, Thanh Khe documented 35 cases, most of which were in some alleys along Tran Cao Van, Tam Thuan Ward, whilst 26 infections were reported in Cam Le District.
The day's number has pushed the city’s tally in the ongoing wave since July 10 to 3,311.
