Da Nang's daily COVID-19 count reaches 58 on Aug. 13, including 16 community-acquired cases
Da Nang reported 58 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, August 13, of which, 33 were in managed isolation, 6 were identified in local lockdown areas and the remainder were detected in the community, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.
Out of 16 community-acquired cases, 12 were related to the emerging cluster of infections identified at the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market. In detail, five were vegetables stall holders in this market and the remainder were their counterparts in other markets, including the Yen Ne Market in Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang District and the Dong Da Market in Hai Chau District.
The remaining 4 cases of COVID-19 spotted in the community involved 2 residents living in residential group No. 38 in Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, related to the Da Son slaughterhouse, and 2 police officers from Hoa Thuan Dong Ward, Hai Chau District who are on duty at a checkpoint at the Moi (New) Market on the corner of Hoang Dieu and Le Dinh Tham streets.
In particular, 48 out of the total 58 cases identified on Friday were linked to the Tho Quang fishing wharf.
Friday saw the detection of 20 COVID-19 patients associated with the highly concerning infection chain at the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market, of whom 13 were traders trading right at the market, whilst the remainder were their partners operating in other local markets citywide, thus bringing the total infections to 27 till date.
The total infections recorded in the city have climbed to 1,613 since July 10.
