During the on-going imposition of tougher COVID-19 curbs on all Da Nang dwellers, the authorities of many local residential groups have monitored and managed their locals via social network the Zalo and security camera systems to make sure that they are strictly practising the stay-at-home orders.

1. Every early morning, Truong Thi Kep, the leader of residential group No.70, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, observes the screen connected to the "magic eye" system of surveillance cameras to watch every single move of locals across all alleys to determine non-adherences. At the same time, she also creates a chat group via Zalo social network including household representatives to remind everyone to comply with regulations.

Similarly, in residential group No. 29, Binh Hien Ward, Hai Chau District is also effectively applying the surveillance camera system to COVID-19 prevention and control with 4 cameras operating all-the-clock under the direct supervision of the Binh Hien Ward Police.

In addition, thanks to the regular reminders of the Community COVID-19 Team, locals in this residential setting have strictly adhered to the city stricter regulations well since August 16.

Since 2016, tens of thousands of security cameras have been installed across the city, detecting many traffic and security violations.

In particular, the cameras are playing their key part in helping the police force in the fight against the deadly disease at this moment.

2. Not only using Zalo as an information channel to notify key COVID-19 news, but many civil groups also use this social network to interact and receive locals’ demand for food, medicine, gas, etc.

During the 7 days of practicing the  stay-at-home order, dozens of poor locals in residential group No. 70, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, have been provided with free food, fruit and vegetables, in which, there are a large number of gifts given by “good leaves” to help “torn leaves” here.

According to Le Cong Dong, Chairman of the Khue Trung Ward People's Committee, the ward houses 26 residential groups supporting locals to make statistics of orders according to people's needs. Local residents will register essential food they want via the Zalo social network and will receive it from the authorities of residential groups.

Obviously, the timely support of the residential group and the effective application of security camera systems as well as the cutting-edge technology has significantly contributed to the pandemic prevention and control in the combat against COVID-19.
