Each bunch of vegetables and bag of rice were carefully packaged by Quang Nam neighbours for distribution to those affected by the raging COVID-19 crisis.

This is not only material support, but it also shows off the affection and compassion between the Quang Nam and Da Nang peoples in tough times.

At around 6:30am on August 10, 7 trucks carrying a combined total of 30 tonnes of essential food donated by Quang Nam people started their journey along National Highway 14B towards Son Tra District- Da Nang’s largest coronavirus hotspot with many residential settings out under lockdown.

Each vehicle labeled with the slogan saying “Quang Nam joins hands with Da Nang in the fight against COVID-19”. The slogan acts as an affirmation on the spirit of mutual love, the strong and deep brotherly affection between the two localities.

Previously, Dai Loc people had prepared 25 tonnes of agricultural products, 5 tonnes of rice and nearly 500kg of necessities such as cooking oil and fish sauce for distribution to Da Nang residents.

“All agricultural products are homegrown, fresh and delicious, and all of which were prepared by Dai Loc District’s residents with all their hearts heading towards Da Nang during the tough times triggered by COVID-19 outbreak. In the coming time, we will continue to calling for even more agricultural products from the Dai Loc people for donation to sequestered families in Da Nang”, said Mr. Phan Xuan Chien, Chairman of the Dai Loc District Chapter of the Quang NamRed Cross Association.

Bags of rice, fruit and vegetables, bottles of peanut oil donated by the Quang Nam philanthropists have been delivered to sealed-off areas in Son Tra District, thus showing solidarity, compatriotism, and especially making the sequestered people feel secure.

Following the above-mentioned donation of 30 tonnes of food from Dai Loc District for Son Tra District, Dong Giang District, also located in Quang Nam Province, is expected to donate 10 tonnes of agricultural products for Da Nang. These agricultural products will be distributed through the Da Nang Association of Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee to the districts of Hai Chau and Thanh Khe.

In addition, Quang Nam Province plans to deliver another 20 tonnes of agricultural products to the neighbouring city. The amount of agricultural products will be delivered to Lien Chieu District, especially Hoa Khanh Bac Ward where many workers of industrial zones-based enterprises are financially affected by the pandemic .

Over the previous COVID-19 outbreaks, Quang Nam had also supported Da Nang with a large number of agricultural products and necessities. For instance, in August 2020, 10 tonnes of fruit and vegetables, herbs of all kinds were sent to Da Nang people by kind-hearted donors in Nam Tra My District, Quang Nam Province.
